☕️ Best Portable Espresso Machine // Private Photo App // Joy In Networking — 007

OutIn Nano is a sweet portable espresso machine. Private photos apps are a little concerning. I love talking with founders.

🗞️ SSP Channel News

We’re booked out until the beginning of October, which I think I’ve mentioned before. I'm currently building out a more robust system in Notion to manage working with brands and setting up my content calendar more efficiently. This side hustle is taking a lot of time and effort, and I’m still feeling overwhelmed as I try to figure out the best ways to outsource some of the work.

One of my concerns is that at any moment, the sales from these videos could stop, which is a bit scary. If that were to happen, I might have to let go of my two or three employees and go back to handling everything on my own, which would be a tough situation. Balancing this side project with my 9-to-5 job is challenging, and I’m trying to find ways to integrate the two. But I'm acutely aware of how quickly things can change.

Your support is always highly appreciated as I navigate this journey.

Recently I've seen a tendency of staying on the surface on product reviews, I cannot trust people that aren't able to recognize and visibilize design trade offs..., thanks for sharing your perspective.

🎥 Behind the Video

☕️ More Thoughts on the OutIn Nano

This video was an interesting one. The brand asked me to compare their product to a competitor's, and honestly, they're very similar. I stand by everything I said in the review—I do prefer the OUTIN over the CONQUECO, but I think anyone with an outdoor lifestyle who enjoys camping would be happy with either of these devices. They’re both pretty cool gadgets for making espresso on the go.

🤫 More Thoughts on the Private Photo Vault App

I've actually seen the Private Photo Vault app pop up quite a few times over the years in the App Store, so I decided to finally take a closer look and review it. I was a bit hesitant to make this video because I think apps like these can sometimes lead to not-so-great internet behavior. I did make sure to mention that at the end of the video, as it's something I felt was important to address.

However, to be completely honest with you, the brand deal was too good to pass up. This is part of the ongoing challenge I face—balancing the need to pay my employees and cover the bills with staying true to being open, honest, and intentional about the products I review. It's a delicate balance, and sometimes it leads to decisions like this one, where I take on a project that I’m not entirely comfortable with.

Looking back, this might have been my least favorite video I've ever done. It’s not that the product itself was terrible, but more that I struggled with the ethical implications and whether this was the right choice for my channel. But these are the kinds of decisions that come with running a business, and I’m still figuring out the best way to navigate them.

🧠 What I’m Currently Learning

Something I’m learning as I continue on this journey is how much joy I find in connecting with tech startups, different companies, and the employees who are doing interesting things in the tech space. Being able to talk with owners and founders is incredibly exciting for me, even more so than landing a lucrative brand deal. There’s something really fulfilling about connecting with CEOs on LinkedIn or reaching out to a head of a marketing department and starting a conversation.

I’m starting to realize that this networking aspect is something I want to explore further. I’m interested in learning how to carve out this path more intentionally and how my YouTube content could benefit from these connections. It’s definitely been an unexpected but interesting side effect of working through all these brand deals and expanding my network on LinkedIn. This is an area I want to dive deeper into and see where it could take me and my content.

🙏🏻 Faith and Spiritual Insights

With the school year back in full swing, I've been able to dive into the Word more, and it's been incredibly refreshing. I'm really enjoying the process of learning more about God again, and it’s amazing how, no matter how many times I study, I keep discovering new, interesting, and beautiful ways that He exists, creates, and loves us. It’s so exciting and truly awe-inspiring to see His hand in everything, and it reminds me of the boundless nature of His grace and creativity.

🥱 The Lazy YouTuber

Me and my editor, Ben, have created a course on how to start a YouTube channel, but with a twist.

We were so over all of the YouTube gurus out there showing you how to become a millionaire on YouTube complete with a 60 page guide, 90 hours of video lessons you needed to follow word for word, and a hefty price tag.

Ben and I love YouTube and we truly believe anyone with a passion and an iPhone (or Android, whatevvs) can start a sustainable and enjoyable channel that garners like-minded individuals and life-long connections.

It isn’t rocket science. In fact, you can do it all with some clicks of a button while in your underwear on the couch.

The course is now live on Skillshare (*ehem* which means “free” if you start a trial), and we would love it if you would check it out.
