🤳🏻 A Fun Idea for the Razr+ // A Robotic Pool Cleaner // Saying No To Brands — 005
Does the Razr+ "Dumb Phone"? My parents have a new best friend. I need to start saying no to brand deals, I think...
🗞️ SSP Channel News
I've been really enjoying using the email platform Beehiiv to house my newsletter. In fact, I've transferred my entire personal website over to Beehiiv because it allows for customizable pages. Now, my newsletter fuels the whole website, and there's also a section for getting in touch with me, as well as a section for brands to check out case studies and testimonials. The network on Beehiiv for newsletter growth is incredible. I plan to keep advertising my newsletter across other newsletters to grow the audience and share more insights into my channel and the tech I'm reviewing.
I truly appreciate the continued support from my subscribers, especially those who subscribe to this newsletter. I want this newsletter to be a place for more back-and-forth on tech ideas and topics. So, if you ever want to share your thoughts about anything, just put them in the comment section on any of these posts, and I’ll respond as quickly as possible. I’m excited to see if there’s more value I can bring to my you all through this newsletter beyond my YouTube channel.
Additionally, I'm learning that working with brands and agencies can be like the wild west regarding contracts, deliverables, and expectations. It's been an eye-opening experience, and I'm eager to navigate this space more effectively.
I think I’m going to have to start declining brand outreach more and more, and instead, pick and choose higher-paying and more relevant brands that come across my inbox. My plate is becoming so full, and all these brands want a quick two-week turnaround on their reviews, which just isn’t possible when I have so many videos lined up. I'm definitely struggling with that navigation.

Hahaha, it took me until 20 mins before I realised the thumbnail could be this rocks rather than this sucks. I was waiting for you to explain why you didn't like this. Cool video bud!

🤳🏻 More Thoughts on the Motorola Razr+
I really don’t know a lot about Android devices, but as I delve more into dumb phones and dumb tech, I find myself becoming more aware of what Android has to offer. I’m still very much a novice when it comes to Android operating systems, but it's definitely interesting. Despite my love for Apple, I must admit that all tech is fun tech.
🏊♂️ More Thoughts on the Scuba S1 Pro
My parents really like this pool cleaner, and it’s been doing a great job cleaning their pool. They’ve been using it quite a bit, and I was impressed with the build quality and the tech inside. As far as I know, it’s still working well. However, I've seen some comments on the video from people who’ve had issues with the battery not lasting through the full summer. I'll definitely keep an eye on the longevity of this device.
I enjoyed making this review, but I’m having some trouble with the brand on the affiliate sales side, which is starting to frustrate me a little bit, to be honest.
🧠 What I’m Currently Learning
I've been doing a lot of hands-on work lately, leaving little time for research or reading. However, this past weekend, on the way to pick up my dog from the border, I started listening to Alex Hormozi's second book again. I hadn't listened to it in a while, but I'm finding that both in the YouTube realm and my 9-to-5 job, I'm increasingly involved in sales—whether I like it or not. To be honest, I'm enjoying it, but I want to learn more about selling effectively. More than anything, I want to believe in the products I'm selling and understand them so well that they sell themselves.
🙏🏻 Faith and Spiritual Insights
I've been reminded recently of the value and power in spending more and more time in the Word and carving out time in my day to spend with God, learning about who He is.
I fully believe the closer we draw to Christ, the more we resemble Him, and it greatly impacts how we communicate and live life with others. The time we spend with Christ profoundly shapes our interactions and relationships.
🥱 The Lazy YouTuber
As I mentioned above, Me and my editor, Ben, have created a course on how to start a YouTube channel, but with a twist.
We were so over all of the YouTube gurus out there showing you how to become a millionaire on YouTube complete with a 60 page guide, 90 hours of video lessons you needed to follow word for word, and a hefty price tag.
Ben and I love YouTube and we truly believe anyone with a passion and an iPhone (or Android, whatevvs) can start a sustainable and enjoyable channel that garners like-minded individuals and life-long connections.
It isn’t rocket science. In fact, you can do it all with some clicks of a button while in your underwear on the couch.
The course is now live on Skillshare (*ehem* which means “free” if you start a trial), and we would love it if you would check it out.
