šŸ“½ļø A Big Announcement // A Projector // An E-Ink Blackberry ā€” 002

I've got some big news, some thoughts about videos from last week, and much more.

Hey Friends!

Welcome back to the newsletter.

The most exciting thing this week is that our SkillShare Class is finally live!!

If you have ever had even the slightest urge to start a YouTube channel, this class is for you. In the span of less than 1.5 hours, we show you how to start a sustainable youtube channel (based on the things you love to talk about) in as little time, money and effort as possible.

Itā€™s called The Lazy YouTuber and you can watch it FOR FREE by clicking below and signing up for a free month of SkillShare on us.

Just remember - if anyone can do it, you can. šŸ˜‰

Behind the Video

More Thoughts on the Nebula Capsule 3 Laser

In my recent video, I reviewed the Nebula Capsule 3 Laser Projector from Nebula, owned by Anker. Weā€™ve been using it almost daily in our playroom, projecting onto a gray wall. Itā€™s bright enough and the battery lasts long enough for us to enjoy it during the day with the blinds closed. Despite some parents probably disagreeing with the idea of background TV (and we do take long breaks from TV time!), we find it adds a nice ambiance while playing - our favorite show being Bluey, of course. Iā€™m excited to test it at a campfire gathering outdoors at dusk. So far, it has exceeded my expectations in performance.

More Thoughts on The Minimal Phone

Thereā€™s a buzz in the dumb phone market about this product, but itā€™s still shrouded in mystery. So far, only graphical representations of the device have been shared, with no actual mock-ups. Some comments suggest the company has had shaky Kickstarter campaigns in the past, raising questions about whether this product will truly come to market. While I havenā€™t experienced these issues firsthand, itā€™s something Iā€™ll be keeping an eye on as the story develops.

Whatā€™s Next for the Channel

Weā€™re thrilled about the recent release of our Skillshare class. My excitement is unusually high, which is surprising since I usually manage my expectations. I believe this course has a unique angle in the ā€œlearn how to YouTubeā€ market.

On a personal note, my parents are getting a pool installed, which is relevant because Iā€™ve received pool cleaning robots from AIPER to review. Once their pool is ready, Iā€™ll be doing a vlog-style review using the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, which Iā€™m really looking forward to.

Additionally, Iā€™m enthusiastic about this newsletter and truly appreciate all the subscribers. Growing this community means a lot to me, so please consider sharing it with friends and family or anyone who might enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at everything happening on the channel.

Favorite Comments & Questions This Week

Great video! Really interested in this product. Seems like a great option, I also love that you can get photo messages and that you can have access to email. Iā€™ve dumbed my iPhone down a ton (thanks to some of the tips in your videos) so I donā€™t have email on it but when I need it for tickets or something random, itā€™s nice to have the option to download it. My one thing with all of these minimal phones is i havenā€™t seen one that allows for Wi-Fi calling. As someone who uses Mint mobile our house is a dead zone without Wi-Fi calling so thatā€™s a must for me.

Letā€™s go!!! Happy for you! Iā€™m on my own YouTube journey and cherish each subscriber even though Iā€™m only at 444 subs. I hope once my subscriber base grows, I donā€™t lose sight of the gratitude for each subscriber.

What Iā€™m Currently Learning

Iā€™ve been diving into the opinions around the dumb phone and dumb device market, and itā€™s fascinating to see the variety of comments people make. Iā€™m also grappling with the perception that YouTube reviewers are merely making ads for companies. I strive to be honest in my reviews, and it bothers me when viewers see them as biased. On the flip side, my negative review of a product received backlash for being too harsh. Itā€™s interesting to see how viewers react to individual videos without understanding the broader context of the channel, where I aim to share genuine experiences with these products.

In my 9-to-5 job, Iā€™m learning about the intricacies of hiring salespeople. Our team is deciding whether to hire a new salesperson or invest in more resources to generate leads ourselves. Thereā€™s a lot to consider, and Iā€™m learning more than I can fit into this small section. Itā€™s an exciting, albeit challenging, time of growth and learning.

Faith and Spiritual Insights

This summer, Iā€™ve struggled to stay consistent with my Bible reading due to schedule changes. To address this, I started waking up at 5:30 AM instead of 6:00 AM. This morning, I listened to the Bible Recap reading plan on the Dwell app, followed by a few episodes of its companion podcast. This reading plan has been incredibly enlightening, helping me understand more about who God is and how He reveals Himself to us through the Bible.

Iā€™m also looking forward to the school year starting so I can get back into a regular rhythm, listening to these podcasts while taking my son to daycare. Iā€™m grateful for Godā€™s constant provision and presence in our lives, for answered prayers, and even for those that remain unanswered, trusting in His perfect timing.

The Lazy YouTuber

As I mentioned above, Me and my editor, Ben, have created a course on how to start a YouTube channel, but with a twist.

We were so over all of the YouTube gurus out there showing you how to become a millionaire on YouTube complete with a 60 page guide, 90 hours of video lessons you needed to follow word for word, and a hefty price tag.

Ben and I love YouTube and we truly believe anyone with a passion and an iPhone (or Android, whatevvs) can start a sustainable and enjoyable channel that garners like-minded individuals and life-long connections.

It isnā€™t rocket science. In fact, you can do it all with some clicks of a button while in your underwear on the couch.

The course is now live on Skillshare (*ehem* which means ā€œfreeā€ if you start a trial), and we would love it if you would check it out.
