👋 Welcome! Here's What This Newsletter Is All About — 001
Welcome to my first official newsletter!
Hey Friends!
Welcome to the first issue of my newsletter!
Thank you so much for subscribing and being one of the first here!
I don’t want this newsletter to just be regurgitations of my videos, but instead add way more value with behind the scenes, my thoughts on the “YT business”, things I’m learning in life and work, featuring some stuff you all say in the comments and discussions on the channel and more.
Please let me know if there are any other sections you would like to see in this newsletter and we will definitely consider them. We want this to be for YOU!
So, without further ado, here’s what we have whipped up so far!
Behind the Video
More Thoughts on Ultrahuman Long Term Review
In my recent long-term review of the Ultrahuman Ring Air, I shared a lot about the features and functionality of this impressive smart ring from Ultrahuman. However, something I didn’t mention in the video is how fantastic their customer service has been. There were a couple of instances where my ring stopped working, but their support team was incredibly responsive and helpful with troubleshooting. When the troubleshooting didn’t solve the issue, they promptly sent me a brand new ring for free. While I can’t say for sure if this is standard for everyone, my experience has been outstanding. This level of service, combined with the ring’s intentional design—offering health tracking without the distractions of a smartwatch or smartphone—makes it an easy recommendation from me.
More Thoughts on Notion Sites
In my recent video, I explored Notion Sites, a new feature from the Notion app that allows you to turn your Notion pages into a minimalistic website. I created a free template for viewers to download, providing a simple way to build a website. Having used Notion for years, I can confidently say that this new feature will be an excellent tool for anyone looking to establish an online presence, whether for a business, channel, or personal brand.
Notion Sites strikes a balance between the simplicity of something like Linktr.ee and the functionality of Squarespace, making it accessible without being overly complex. I kept my template minimal on purpose, allowing users to easily customize it to their needs. This feature fills a much-needed gap in the market, and I highly recommend it for its ease of use and versatility.
More Thoughts on Daylight Computer DC1
Last week, I also shared my first impressions of the Daylight Computer, which is more of a tablet than a traditional computer. It’s an intriguing product, though we can probably all agree it’s a bit overpriced. Despite this, I’m curious to explore its features further. I have another similar tablet from Books on the way, which is better priced and offers more functionality, so stay tuned for that review.
One thing that stood out to me about the Daylight Computer is their marketing. They’ve managed to create a strong desire for the product, similar to Apple’s approach, with slick marketing videos that make you want the device even if it might not live up to the hype. I’m hoping to get a unit from the company to review more thoroughly in the future and see if it truly matches its promotional image.
What’s Next for the Channel
Right now, I’m experiencing a significant increase in brand reach-outs, with three to four companies a day wanting me to review their products. It’s an exciting development but also a bit overwhelming. I’m trying to figure out how to turn down some offers politely and rearrange my content schedule to accommodate the most relevant products for my subscribers.
The challenge lies in filtering out the products that aren’t worth my or my subscribers’ time. It’s a great problem to have, but my priority is to do right by my viewers and maintain the quality and relevance of my content. This balancing act is what I’m currently navigating, and I’m working hard to keep everything on track.
Favorite Comments & Questions This Week
Love your reviews, we watched your previous one yesterday and annoyingly bought the rings then before I saw this video 🤣 kicking ourselves now but still super excited. We really appreciate your insightful videos!
What I’m Currently Learning
I’ve been diving into some insightful books lately. I recently listened to “The Million Dollar Weekend” by Noah Kagan, which offers fantastic advice on building an online business and effectively bringing a product to market. It emphasizes validating business ideas before fully committing to them. This book has been so impactful that I’ve recommended it to several people.
Prior to that, I listened to “The Millionaire Fast Lane.” Despite its title sounding like a get-rich-quick scheme, it’s actually about growing wealth by starting and reinvesting in your own company, rather than relying solely on a 9-to-5 job. Both books have been incredibly enlightening, each offering a unique perspective on entrepreneurship and financial growth.
On a different note, my wife and I have been watching season 4 of “The Chosen” TV series. It’s a captivating show for Christians, though it’s essential to watch with discernment. My wife keeps her Bible app open to check the accuracy of the scenes, and it’s impressive how closely the show sticks to the biblical text, despite some artistic liberties.
In my professional life, I’m working more on business operations at my 9-to-5 job, particularly focusing on hiring a new sales rep and understanding how to grow the company. I’m also investing time in learning more about my colleagues and how to support their growth effectively.
Faith and Spiritual Insights
I’ve been struggling with balancing my various commitments, such as my YouTube channel, new business ventures, and On Living Well. These projects are so exciting that I find myself thinking about them even during family time, both over the weekend and in the evenings. This work-life balance challenge is something I need to address, as I often neglect my own advice and the wisdom I’ve gained from others.
I’m immensely grateful for my family’s health and the blessings we’ve received. God has answered many prayers positively, and for that, I am truly thankful. However, I must be more mindful of being present in each moment, especially with my family.
Finally, I’ve been trying to memorize Deuteronomy 6:4-9, a powerful passage about incorporating Scripture into every aspect of life and teaching it to my children. My friend Jonathan has been supporting me in this effort.
The Lazy YouTuber
Me and my editor, Ben, have created a course on how to start a YouTube channel, but with a twist.
We were so over all of the YouTube gurus out there showing you how to become a millionaire on YouTube complete with a 60 page guide, 90 hours of video lessons you needed to follow word for word, and a hefty price tag.
Ben and I love YouTube and we truly believe anyone with a passion and an iPhone (or Android, whatevvs) can start a sustainable and enjoyable channel that garners like-minded individuals and life-long connections.
It isn’t rocket science. In fact, you can do it all with some clicks of a button while in your underwear on the couch.
The course will go Live on Skillshare on July 8th (*ehem* which means it’s “free” if you start a trial below), and we would love it if you would check it out. Keep an eye out for our launch next week and sign up with the link below for a free 30 day trial link. See you over there soon! 🥱
